TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -Tallahassee mayoral candidate Daryl Parks released an official statement today honoring Juneteenth, calling on the community to bridge historical divisions and work toward shared regional progress.

Parks issued the following statement:

“As we gather together to reflect on and memorialize Juneteenth, we are reminded that our city, county, state and nation are at their strongest when we move forward as one.

“This year’s celebration carries even greater historical weight as our country prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary. Juneteenth reminds us that the promise of American liberty was not fulfilled all at once but through a continuous journey toward true justice. On that fateful day in 1865 in Galveston, Texas, the trajectory of our country changed forever, bending closer toward the ideals of freedom and equality.

“As your candidate for Tallahassee mayor, I am committed to fostering an environment where every voice is heard, every community is valued and opportunities are accessible to all.
